How to set up a UCD (mail) account:

Once you have received confirmation that you are in the UCD payroll system you can create your UCD account. This account is both your email account and your kerberos account for other UCD services.

In some instances we can assist you in establishing your account in advance of your actual start date or entry in the payroll system, or if you are a long term visitor who needs a UCD account for email, etc. If this situation applies to you please contact BML-ITHELP. We will facilitate the process. If your affiliation with UCD/BML is long term, your temporary account will roll into a permanent account automatically.

Establishing your account:

Go to http://accounts.ucdavis.edu

Select “Get your UC Davis Computing Account”

Follow the prompts to create your account.

Please make a note of:

  • Your email address
  • Your login or user i.d. (may be different than your email address)
  • Your Password (you will invariably forget this, so commit it to memory, write it down in a safe place, or use a service such as KeePass, kerberos passwords cannot be retrieved if forgotten, a password change token must be issued by UCD and may take up to 24 hours.)
  • Your pop mail server will be mail.ucdavis.edu
  • Your smtp server will be smtp.ucdavis.edu

You will need this information if you wish to use a pop mail client such as Eudora, outlook, etc. You may also use "Geckomail", a web based mail client, see https://geckomail.ucdavis.edu.

NOTE: Add your address to the BML mail lists for lab wide announcements via email

For more information regarding UCD email and Kerberos accounts see http://email.ucdavis.edu.
