BML Offshore Mooring: Temperature, Salinity and Conductivity & Fluorescence/Transmittance
Temperature, salinity and conductivity data are acquired using a SeaBird Electronics SBE16+.
Fluorescence data are acquired with a WETLabs ECO FL Fluorometer.
Transmittance data are acquired with a WETLabs C-Star Transmissometer.
Data are uploaded here on a monthly basis and plotted using MatLab Processing software. For information regarding access to these data sets, please refer to the Data Usage Guidelines page.
Quality Control Procedures: Seawater Parameters at BML Mooring
The conductivity, temperature, fluorescence and transmittance sensors from the BML mooring are retrieved approximately once every four to six weeks for data upload and sensor maintenance. Data are uploaded using SeaBird’s SeaTerm program. Data are then converted to decimal format using SeaBird’s SBE Data Processing software, resulting in a text file with a .cnv extension. This file can then be opened in Microsoft Excel.
Raw data are plotted in Excel and inspected. Data flyers and periods when the sensor was acquiring the data while out of the water during deployment or retrieval are flagged and removed. A clean data set is saved in a separate file. New data are continually added to the same workbook, to create a concatenated file of data from the entire year. These data are plotted in Matlab as monthly time series and images are posted here.
